FEDERAL REGULATORS WILL SOON REQUIRE TRUCKERS TO USE ELECTRONIC LOGS

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has recently published a rule which will go into effect in February of 2016 that will require all commercial truckers to use automatically-recording electronic logs to note the number of hours they've worked and the miles they've traveled each day. Carrier companies have until December of 2017 to implement electronic logging devices across all fleets and drivers, which experts estimate includes some 3 million drivers.

Biological parents who do not hold primary custody of their children may struggle to watch that child grow closer to a new stepparent, and may develop concerns over that person's input in parental decision-making. Judge Lawrence Jones of the Ocean County Superior Court has ruled in one case that, while a child's parents hold the right to make ultimate decisions about a child's rearing, that parent cannot preclude their child from becoming close to new parental figures in their lives.

SHORT-RANGE COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS MAY REVOLUTIONIZE DRIVER SAFETY

Technology has presented many new ways for drivers to become dangerously distracted on the road, but it has also provided many recent advancements in safety that can protect car occupants. Current high-end cars already come with features like self-adjusting cruise control, automatic braking systems, and built-in stability control. A new feature, relying on dedicated short-range communications between vehicles, will provide a way for drivers to "see" cars that would otherwise be invisible to them, and even to know how fast these unseen cars are going.
