Motor vehicle accidents: Teen dead in car crash

A teenager tragically died in a recent car wreck only a day after her senior prom, according to local sources. New Jersey police have confirmed the car accident, which also injured three other teenagers. As with many motor vehicle accidents, authorities are still trying to determine whether the crash was caused by driver error, and whether the driver should face criminal charges for the accident.

According to the report, the 17-year-old girl was traveling back from a zoo trip with friends in Fredon Township when the accident occurred. Around 5:30 p.m., the 17-year-old male driver appeared to lose control of the vehicle, which left the road and overturned in the woods on the roadside. The female victim was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel who arrived to administer aid.

The driver and the other two passengers, another 17-year-old male and a 16-year-old female, were all seriously injured in the crash. They have been taken to local hospitals, where their conditions are currently unknown. The investigation into the cause of the tragic crash is still underway, and the school is arranging counseling and remembrance services for the victim.

Motor vehicle accidents that claim young lives cannot be overstated in their tragedy, but it remains to be seen whether criminal charges will be filed against the driver. Separately, the deceased girl's family may choose to file a civil lawsuit for wrongful death in a New Jersey court. Other individuals with ownership interest in the involved vehicle may also be named in such a suit, and the injured passengers have a separate right to pursue personal injury claims.
