Motor vehicle accidents: Crash in New Jersey injures 2

Galloway Township was the site of a serious crash on the evening of July 27, according to local sources. As with many motor vehicle accidents, information on the New Jersey crash is still extremely limited, but it has been confirmed that a single vehicle was involved. Police are still investigating, and so far no charges have been filed against the driver.

According to the report, around 7 p.m. the night of July 27, a vehicle carrying two occupants who have not been publicly identified was traveling on South Seaview Avenue when the accident occurred. For reasons unknown, the vehicle left the road and struck a tree, causing serious damage to the vehicle. The driver and one passenger were trapped in the car when first responders arrived on the scene.

It took some 30 minutes to extricate the first occupant from the vehicle and more than an hour and a half to rescue the second. The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time, but both individuals were rushed to local hospitals. Police are still trying to determine what caused the crash, but they have not ruled out recklessness, negligence or even intoxication as possible contributing factors at this time.

If it becomes clear the driver involved in this crash was materially responsible for the accident, he or she could face criminal charges for any of the above noted reasons. Motor vehicle accidents causing injury to passengers also fall under the purview of the New Jersey civil court system. The passenger may be entitled under state law to file a personal injury lawsuit against the driver.
