BLUETOOTH TECHNOLOGY MAY NOT BE AS SAFE FOR DRIVERS AS ASSUMED

Popular belief is that bluetooth technology provides drivers with a much safer way to operate on the roadways. The correlation between hands-free driving and safety makes sense: you maintain two hands on the wheel at all times and have no need to press buttons or look down. However, a fascinating study conducted by Discovery Channel’s “Mythbusters” revealed that your focus when driving hands-free may be as just as impacted as driving with a phone in your hand.

DRIVER FATIGUE CITED AS MAJOR CAUSE OF AUTO ACCIDENTS

Each year, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) issues its Most Wanted List of transportation safety improvements, which outlines top priorities for improvements to safety on roadways in the United States. In 2016, combating driver fatigue was listed among the most important initiatives, due to the catastrophic and sometimes fatal auto accidents that can result from drivers operating motor vehicles with inadequate sleep.
